UNIQUE FOAMING ACTION
With a unique foaming action, Root X reaches the top of the pipe where 90% of the root intrusion occurs. Surfactants in the RootX formula strip away grease and grime on the roots, killing the roots on contact and prevents their regrowth.
HOW IT WORKS
RootX is packaged as two dry powder components in one container. When these components come in contact with water they create a sticky foam that fills the entire pipe, coating the roots and pipeline surfaces with the RootX formula. RootX leaves a residual above the water line that continues to kill roots and inhibits new growth for up to 12 months.
RootX is labeled for use in both sanitary and storm pipes and is not a restricted use product.
SAVE MONEY
RootX can be used with or without mechanical root cutting equipment. Mechanical root removal is an excellent short-term solution, However, if the roots are cut and left untreated (just like pruning a tree or bush), they will come back bigger and stronger. This process will eventually destroy a pipe or sewer line and require the line to be dug up and replaced. The replacement of a pipe or sewer line would cost much more than an annual treatment with RootX.
SEPTIC SYSTEMS Many of our customers have requested that we offer a septic safe product to handle their root infiltration problems. We chose RootX. RootX is a patented foaming herbicidal formula that is registered in all 50 states. EPA registration # 68464.1. The environmentally safe formulation
does not contain Copper Sulfate or Metam Sodium, which are both harmful to the environment. It enhances bacterial growth, so it's
safe for septic systems, too.
Add RootX. Foaming action kills roots and inhibits regrowth. |
12 weeks later debris is decaying and roots are stunted |
Nine months later RootX fully restores flow. |
HOW TO APPLY ROOTXDOWNLOAD ROOTX APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS (CLEANOUT OR TOILET METHOD)
RootX foaming root killer is fast and easy to apply with no special equipment required. For severely blocked pipes where mechanical root cutting is also needed, be sure to treat the pipe with RootX root killer within the first hour after cutting the roots to ensure the proper chemical absorption. If you do not treat with RootX in the first hour after cutting wait 6 weeks before starting your RootX treatment program.
Use gloves when handling the RootX product and choose the best application method that will work best for your location. Refer to the instructions above.
RootX Jars:
RootX Foaming Root Killer jars offer a convenient method for treating residential, or commercial pipelines, service laterals and septic systems. The cleanout is the preferred method for most residential applications because the cleanout is closest to the pipes where root infiltration can cause problems. If there is no cleanout at the location you can apply RootX using the toilet. To prevent foam from overflowing, you should only use a 2 pounds per flush application.
Cleanout Method:
- Pour the RootX treatment chemical directly into the cleanout. You can either pour it directly from the jar or mix the product in a pail or small container and then pour the RootX into the cleanout
- Pour 1 1/2 to 2 gallons of water per pound of RootX used in the treatment application to activate the root killing foam.
- The natural flow of the pipe line carries the foam down the pipe.
- Restrict water flow for 6-8 hours after treating with RootX.
Toilet Method:
- Pour the RootX treatment chemical directly into the toilet. You can either pour it directly from the jar or mix the product in a pail or small container and then pour the RootX into the cleanout. When treating your pipelines with RootX via the toilet use only 2 pounds per flush
- Use 1 1/2 to 2 gallons of water per pound of RootX used in the treatment application to activate the root killing foam. This is done by adding the RootX product first and then flushing the toilet enough times to equal the correct amount of water (standard toilets are about 1.6 gallons per flush).
- The natural flow of the pipe line carries the foam down the pipe
- Restrict water flow for 6-8 hours after treating with RootX.
Septic System Applications with RootX:
Three different treatments work depending on where the root problems are occurring in your septic system.
1. In the tank: pour about 8 to 12 lbs. of RootX per 1000 gallons directly into the tank.
2. Lines from the house to the tank: add RootX into a cleanout or toilet at a rate of 2 pounds per 50 feet of 4? diameter pipe.
3. Leach lines: add RootX into the distribution box or directly into the drain field lines themselves using the proper application rate.
Other:
Small lines (8 inches or less):
Pour the RootX dry powdered formula directly from the package into the upstream manhole. Activate the root-killing foam by adding water. The foam will move down the pipe by gravity and the existing flow to coat the roots and pipe walls. To enhance this application you can place a jetter nozzle in the downstream manhole to create a vacuum and draw the foam down the pipe.
Large lines (8 to 18 inches):
Fill the FDU (Foam Dispersal Unit) with a 20 lb. bag of RootX and attach it to a jetter truck hose at the upstream manhole. Adding water from the truck creates foam; retrieving the FDU spreads the root-killing foam, coating the roots and pipe walls.
Service laterals:
By using RootX in residential service laterals, a city can be proactive while taking care of their customers cost-effectively. Using 2 and 4 lb. jars of RootX, a municipal sewer department can completely treat a service lateral by pouring the contents of a jar into a cleanout and adding water. Simpler than treating from a mainline, this method requires no costly equipment or training and takes care of root problems in service laterals before they create problems in mainlines.
Restrict water usage for 4 to 6 hours after treatment to assure full absorption of the RootX into the roots.
